Sunshine Blogger Award (Part 1)

I am always so honored and excited every time someone nominates me for one of these & I am blown away this week, guys. In the last week, I’ve been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award FOUR times. My heart is going to explode. ❤

I hope you don’t mind but since I’ve been nominated so much & I want to answer ALL of your wonderful questions, I’m breaking this post into two. That way, neither of them get too long & ridiculous. 🙂

Thank you so much to Siobhan @ Novelties & Hamad @ The Book Prescription for the nominations. You guys are the best. Please check out their blogs now if you aren’t already following them!!

Siobhan’s Questions ❤

  • Is there a character you wish went a different path?

All the time! But I have to remind myself that the author is doing their job by making life as difficult for their characters as they can. Also, I’ve got the gift of foresight for a lot of these situations so I know what is going to happen even when the character doesn’t.

The only concrete examples I can come up with right now involve relationships & that seems silly but it’s all I got for now. For example, even though I love Ron & Ginny so much, I always wanted Hermione to end up with Harry. (I know I’m not the only one to think so.)

  • Which character would you want to save from a horrible situation?

Now I have Harry Potter on my mind – so what monster wouldn’t want to save Dobby??

  • What’s the most recent book that you were unable to (or struggled to) finish?

The final book in the Rebel of the Sands series called Hero At the Fall. I’ve been reading this book for a couple months and I’m only about halfway there. I really really hate to DNF a book & I’ve heard sooo many great things about the end of this series. I just can’t seem to really get into it.

  • Which fictional world do you want to live in?

Tortall. I’ve definitely said this one before. Probably a close lead over Hogwarts but I fell in love with Tortall before Hogwarts was even a thing.  I always thought that I would get along with all the heroes in this series. This is one of those that I’ve read many, many times & I know I’ll read many, many more.

  • Your bookshelf is on fire, which book do you save from the flames? Why that one?

I know I should be more attached to my books than I am but I don’t really own anything that would truly shake me if I lost it. I don’t think there is anything I love that I wouldn’t be able to just find another copy of. I am going to be really practical and say I’d save the one I’m most interested in reading next. In this case, that would be Strange the Dreamer

  • Who is your favourite character you want to meet but are afraid to?

Kaz Brekker (of Six of Crows fame). I love him but I am sure he would think I was super lame and boring – that would break my heart. 😦

  • Which genre you cannot stand reading?

Self Help Books.

  • Which series are you eagerly waiting to get your hands onto?

Series that have already begun that I have started yet: Strange the DreamerThe Raven Boys. Series that is not yet released: King of Scars.

  • Which animal/pet do you love the most in a series?

I try not to get too attached to pets in a series. Has anyone else ever noticed that they always seem to die by the end ?!

  • If you could change an ending in a book/series, what would it be?

I honestly can’t think of anything I would change the ending to right now… maybe the Harry Potter thing again? I don’t mind how the series ended but I wasn’t a huge fan of the epilogue (just the fact that it was there at all…)

  • What was the last book you read that disappointed you the most?

I think I’m pretty easy going with books. I’m nicer than I should be. I guess I’d have to say Always Never Yours really let me down because I was expecting a cute fluffy YA & I did not see it that way. Also I was not a fan of A Court of Frost and Starlight. Sorry 😦

Hamad’s Questions ❤

– Who was your first Book crush?

Oh jeez…. George Cooper from the Alana series. I still love him ❤ #TeamGeorge

– When did you start reading?

Does being read to count? The day I was born. I come from a family that LOVES to read so it was always a part of my life. When I was in 5th grade, our teacher had us read The Ancient One by T.A. Barron. <Any other T.A. Barron fans out there??> That is probably the first time I can remember absolutely falling in love with reading.

– What is the last book that made you cry?

I really don’t know the answer to this. I don’t actually cry real tears very often – but it does happen. I cried when Dobby died in Harry Potter, for example. I promise that I’ve cried since then but not recently enough to remember why (sorry, I’m getting old). The Bird and the Blade was the closest I came to crying this year.

– How many hours do you read per day?

I feel like this question should be “How many hours do you prefer to read per day?” I wish it were my full time job so let’s go with 5-6?? LOL. If anyone out there has the time to do this, please treasure it! I have a full time job and a 10 month old baby attached to my hip. I get to read in those few moments when I have no chores to do and the baby is sleeping. Let’s call it 1-3 hours a day. *Please note: I have given up a lot for this time. My house is a mess, the laundry is never completely done, and I watch practically zero television.

– If you were a book/ movie character, would you be a main or secondary one?

What a great question! I think it depends on the book/movie. If it is something where a lot of people die than I prefer to be the main character because my odds of survival are much better. 😀

– What book you wish you have never read?

I wish I had never read all of my favorite books: Harry Potter, Song of the Lioness, Six of Crows, The Hating Game…..etc.  All so that I can read them fresh & fall in love with them all over again ❤

– What is your favorite food?

Goldfish crackers are my favorite food…goldfish and lemonade…oh…and burgers…burgers and beer…mmmm.

– What is your hidden talent?

Most people think I am a bad liar, but that’s just because they think they know every time I’ve lied to them. 😉

– What are some of your favorite words?

Callipygian: having shapely buttocks

LOL. No seriously, I didn’t know how to answer this question to I just googled funny words. I don’t really have a favorite word. If I did, it wouldn’t last more than a few hours anyway. I’m pretty flighty 🙂

– What do you do when you are not reading?

Awww… thanks for asking! I am playing with my baby, writing on this blog, doing yoga, going to the library, working and/or planning my next vacation. I try my hardest not to do chores, cook, clean or be practical but sometimes I have no choice. 😀

– What was your favorite school subject?

History. I always loved history. You think I should have said English?? I have a degree in English Literature but I never really loved reading “assigned” novels. It isn’t that I hated all of them but I’m such a mood reader that often it was difficult.

To Be Continued….

  1. Wow huge congrats on the nominations! I actually nominated you as well so that’s one more to your list (but if you have too many questions to answer, don’t worry about mine :)) ! 2. Wonderful answers! Thanks for taking the time to answer this.

    – I also used to love stories when I was read to but my parents don’t know many stories and we had to get creative when we told stories to my younger brother.
    – I don’t cry too but with Fredrik Backman’s books, I may have shed a few tears.
    – I also read 1-3 hours a day, other than that it is reading for med-school 😦
    – I like to think of people as book characters and I think I am a secondary character that is light, lol
    – I was surprised to see these titles and then the explanation made perfect sense.
    – Goldfish and lemonade ❤
    – How do I know you're not lying?
    – Callipygian, that made me laugh so hard! this is going into my book and sorry for the weird questions.
    – I love babies, take care of your champion because they grow very fast.
    – I didn't expect English, but nor history! History was my most hated subject and I loved Math and English.

    Thanks again ❤

  3. Great answers to great questions!

I also have a hard time prioritizing between cleaning and reading until my husband says something like, “is the toilet supposed to be that color?” Or “do we have any knives left?”

It’s really hard to find time to read when the kiddos are awake because even if they are playing by themselves, as soon as they notice what you’re doing they ask a thousand questions or demand you return your attention to them.
