Secret Life of a Book Blogger

I was tagged by the one and only Sara @ The Bibliophagist to complete this Secret Life of a Book Blogger tag! Sara is easily one of my favorite bloggers out there. She was one of my first blogging friends & she is seriously ALWAYS giving back. If you don’t follow her yet, you’re crazy! What are you waiting for? 💜

1. How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for about 2.5 months! So, not very long.

2. At what point do you think you’ll stop blogging?
I’ve already tried to slow down just a bit from the super hectic schedule that I first gave myself when I started. I love doing this but I don’t like beating myself up because I did not get to a tag or a meme I meant to do that day. I seriously love my blog so I have no plans to stop blogging. What is perhaps most likely is that this blog might gradually change and evolve as my life does, but I doubt that I’ll ever just flat out stop doing it… I’m certainly not going to stop reading!

3. What is the best thing about blogging?
I completely agree with Sara about this one! Friends!! I love connecting with people all over the world & I love that it is our love of reading that brings us together.

4. What is the worst thing? What do you do to make it okay?
The worst part for me is the more people I follow, the less likely it is that I”ll be able to keep up with all of your excellent blogs as much as I’d like to! If I don’t check my Reader for a day then there is no hope of catching up. To make it okay? I guess I just read as much as I can and try to comment and like what I can. You can’t do it all 🙂

5. How long does it take you to find make/find pictures to use?
I do try to take a “creative” picture of the book I’m reading for reviews, but my process is VERY quick. I am in no way a “serious” bookstagramer. LOL. I take a picture with my phone, sometimes throw on a filter and then send it to my computer. The whole process including set up and take down doesn’t take more than 5-10 min.

6. Who is your book crush?
I feel like good authors create that perfectly flawed and handsome leading man on purpose. Aren’t you supposed to crush on ALL of them a little bit??

7. What author would you like to have on your blog?
Hmmmm…. I really love Alice Hoffman, Leigh Bardugo, Lyndsay Faye, Tana French & Julie James. These ladies are all VERY different but I love them all & would scream up and down if I had a chance to speak to one of them 🙂

8. What do you wear when you write your blog posts?
….clothes? No seriously. I just wear what I’m wearing. I actually hate lounging around in my pajamas (makes me feel lazy) so jeans and a tank top 🙂

9. How long does it take you to prepare?
This is going to sound awful to all you planners out there but I spend almost no time planning or preparing. If I have free moment, then I sit down and write something. And that is the way it goes. I don’t have time to plan a bunch of stuff I might not get to so I just don’t. I know what you’re going to say next – planning can actually save you time! Maybe…. but for my life it just isn’t on the immediate horizon 🙂

10. How do you feel about the book blogging community?
How many ways can I say how much I LOVE this community?? A million ways and I still wouldn’t be done ❤

On a side note: This is kind of a silly question. Who is going to say they hate this place?

11. What do you think one should do to get a successful blog?
I guess success is measured differently by different people. Write as much as you can. Read as much as you can. If you want followers and comments, it seems to really go both ways. Like and comment on your fellow bloggers posts as well 🙂 Is having a “successful” blog worth it if you’re miserable? Just have fun with it and try not to worry to much about stats.

Happy Friday Y’all!

Have a wonderful weekend ❤

  1. Oh my goodness, Becky, you just totally made my day! 💕 Thank you so much for saying such nice things!! ❤️

I totally agree about keeping up with everyone else’s blog! I’ve found so many great blogs to follow but if I get too busy in my real life, I know I’m missing things!

  2. I so understand about falling behind. Today is one of those days where I’ve deep-dived into all the most recent post uploads and I’ve got about 20 tabs open for posts that went up only in the last THREE DAYS! That’s why I love when my fav bloggers like Sara @ The Bibliophagist do some sort of weekly update!

Your answers are fantastic, especially the one that talks about what makes a successful blog. There’s no magic formula that works for everyone. Part of the journey is figuring out what makes you happy and what you’re willing to do to get there. If you like what you’re doing, the followers that find you will be the best! ^_^
