The Sunshine Blogger Award

I was nominated by Sara @ The Bibliophagist for the Sunshine Blogger Award! What a lovely surprise for the end of the week ๐Ÿ™‚

The Rules

The guidelines for this award are straightforward:

  • Thank the blogger(s) that nominated you in the post and link back to their blog
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you
  • Nominate 8-11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award Logo on your post and/or in your blog

Questions from Sara:

  • Whatโ€™s a weird fact that you just happen to know?

Did you know that a couple people die every year from falling through grates in the sidewalk? I have been hyper-aware of sidewalk grates ever since I read this & I try really hard never to walk on them at all.

  • If you could pick one food that youโ€™d never have to eat again, what would it be?

Bertie Botts every flavor beans – it just isn’t worth it!! Get regular Jelly Bellys ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Whatโ€™s your favorite season of the year and why?

I love Fall. There are so many reasons… because it is just starting to cool down from the hot summer. All my favorite clothes are Fall clothes – sweaters and boots โค And of course Halloween & Thanksgiving… and leaves changing colors ๐Ÿ™‚

  • You can have dinner with five famous people, alive or dead. Who do you pick?

Leigh Bardugo, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cleopatra, Alice Hoffman and Alan Rickman

I don’t know why – they all just seem like interesting people โค I’m also hoping for 5 individual dinners and not one big awkward dinner… ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Imagine you have a personal assistant to do everything you hate or donโ€™t want to deal with. What do you have them do for you?

They do all my grocery shopping and clean my house. Ahhhh… wouldn’t that be nice? ๐Ÿ˜€

  • If you could teleport anywhere, where would you go right now?

Right now?! ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope I can bring my family with me. In that case I teleport to Amsterdam. It is one of my favorite places in the world. If it were full summer time, I would transport to Manarola in Cinque Terre (Italy – if you aren’t familiar just google it and you’ll understand) and if it were winter, I’d go to Sydney.

  • Whatโ€™s the last book that you recommended to someone?

I told my sister to read The Kiss Quotient when it comes out. โค

  • Whatโ€™s the last book that someone recommended to you?

Scythe. My mother and sister badgered me to read that for months and I finally gave in at the beginning of the year. I can’t believe I waited so long because it is FANTASTIC!!

  • Used books or new books?

New books ๐Ÿ™‚ Even library books (and I go to the library A LOT) I like to put my name on hold weeks before the book comes out so that I’m the first person to check it out. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Do you listen to audiobooks?

Not really. I really only like them if the author is reading their own work (i.e. Neil Gaiman) or if the reader is someone famous (i.e. Benedict Cumberbatch). I’m more of a podcast girl myself.

  • Have you ever dreamed about a book? If so, which book?

I don’t really remember my dreams. But since I read so much, I can’t imagine that I haven’t had bookish dreams…. I just don’t remember them. I think we can go out on a ledge and say Harry Potter is a good bet ๐Ÿ™‚

I nominate:

Please don’t feel any obligation to participate if this isn’t your thing! No hard feelings ๐Ÿ™‚ I tend to nominate people whom I’ve just started following/who just starting following me in an attempt to get to know you all a little better. If you don’t want to be tagged in things moving forward, just let me know โค

Your Questions:

  1. If you could get your hands on an ARC of any book coming out (doesn’t even have to be one that is announced yet), what would it be?
  2. If you could spend the summer anywhere, where would you go?
  3. You have to sacrifice any book to the bookish Gods, what book do you give them?
  4. If you could only read one genre for the rest of your life, what would you pick?
  5. What is the least favorite job you’ve ever had?
  6. What is the best job you’ve ever had?
  7. How do you feel about camping?
  8. What is your favorite summer time drink?
  9. You’re borrowing your best friends time machine for a day – where would you go?
  10. If you could only use one form of social media, which would you pick?
  11. Got any real summer plans?

  1. Ohhh congrats on the nomination, Becky! โค

I'd love to meet Leigh Bardugo as well & Sydney is one of my dream destinations! And I'm planning on listening to one of Neil Gaiman's audiobooks soon, so I'm really happy to hear that you enjoy them.

    1. I might have to plan a trip around a book convention or something so that I can meet Leigh – she just seems so funny and down to earth. I follow her on Instagram and I love it when she posts stories. I’ve wanted to visit Australia forever & my new neighbors are from Sydney so I think about it a lot more now ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Have you ever played Bean Boozled? It’s a jelly bean game and everyone playing chooses a bean from the same compartment and eats it at the same time. The beans look identical (same color and such) but some are normal flavors and some are trick flavors (coconut vs. baby wipes, etc.). I think it’s made by the same sadistic people who created Bertie Botts haha.

      1. It’s funny – I played it with a few of my friends and while two of them spit it out when they got baby wipes, the third kept chewing. She was like, it tastes like lavender! I like it!! haha.

I got one that tasted like vomit and I was done. I couldn’t.

  3. I never that about the sidewalk grates! I always worry about that when I’m walking around NYC but I never knew it was actually a thing! Yikes!

I definitely agree about Jelly Bellys vs. Bertie Botts. I’ve gotten too many weird flavors of Bertie Botts and I’m just not that adventurous.

    Also, Alice Hoffman, great choice!

  4. Thank you for nomination!!! I was nominated by Sarah too AND I will so answer your questions too! Thanks so much for the tag – I love doing them!

Haha loved your answers, who knows – imagine all five of them at the dinner. Benedict would be on pristine behavior, and oh Alan Rickman, what a great choice. Iโ€™d be curious to see what Cleopatra would actually look like… ๐Ÿ˜œ

    1. Ahhh! Oh no ๐Ÿ™‚ You don’t have to do this one twice if you don’t want to! I have two other tags that I have to get to if you want me to switch you over ๐Ÿ˜€

Yes! Don’t we all want to know what she looks like?? I bet Alan and Benedict would get along swimmingly but I’d still feel awkward with all of them there together. LOL ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Awesome answers! I always avoid sidewalk grates too hahaha! My friend actually fell in once, but just with one leg and I had to pull her out, her leg was totally skinned ugh. :S Your famous people dinner answer is just perfect! โค I adore all those people! But yeah it would be super weird to have them all together, I can just imagine Cleopatra's reaction to the rest of the bunch haha. ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Oh my goodness!! See?? Why do they put them in the sidewalk? And sometimes theyโ€™re actually impossible to avoid ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

The dinner party was the hardest question to answer… In the end I just picked a bunch of random people I like. I really think it would be a well rounded party ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. I’m so happy to find so much support with my fear of sidewalk grates ๐Ÿ™‚ My friends used to tease me about it all the time!

Fall is the best! Leggings and sweaters and pumpkins! And Fall colors are the best too โค
