Twenty Questions Tag

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I’ve been incredibly busy at work lately and it has really cut into my blogging and reading time so it feels like forever since I’ve done a post! So, since I was just recently tagged in this Twenty Questions tag by the magnanimous Siobhan’s Novelites I thought this would be a fun and stress free way to get back to it! I do have a couple book reviews half written, but I’d rather do this instead 😀

1. How many books is too many in a series?

I guess it depends on the author. If he/she is dependable (i.e. can write books in a timely fashion – let’s be realistic and say 1 per year) then the series can be as long or as short as they want. Otherwise, 2 or 3?? I’d hate to have to wait a decade to read a trilogy. You never know if you’ll ever get to see the end…

2. How do you feel about cliffhangers?

I really hate this new trend where books seem to end without a conclusion. I don’t mind a cliffhanger as long as the book itself had a clear beginning, middle and end. There needs to be some resolution. I HATE it when the first book in a series seems to be one big wind up to the next book and none of your questions are answered. Why do we let authors get away with this?

3. Hardback or Paperback?

I read more hardbacks because I read a lot of library books and they tend to be hardcovers. I prefer to buy paperbacks because they are cheaper and lighter and take up less space in my house.

4. Favorite book?

Seriously? No.

5. Least Favorite book?

13497818

6. Love Triangles, yes or no?

Hahaha…. I’m really sorry guys but I’m one of those three people out there that doesn’t hate love triangles. Yes, I will admit that sometimes they are awful but sometimes it is a little more complicated then disgusting insta-love at first glance. I can appreciate a good triangle. #sorrynotsorry

7. The most recent book you couldn’t finish?

Okay, so I really try not to DNF books but I’ve been reading this one for MONTHS (and I honestly don’t even have a copy because I had to return the library book)… I might have to call it…

8. A book you’re currently reading?

I’m reading this one for a blog tour & my review is scheduled for tomorrow. Don’t worry, I’m ALMOST done with it.

And then….. Eeeeeeeee!! I’m so excited!

9. The last book you recommended to someone?

I recently told my sister to read The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang. She loved it 😀 ❤

10. The oldest book you’ve read?

Ever? Probably something for school that I don’t remember… But since tracking on Goodreads:

157993

This book was written in the 1940s. I rarely read anything that is more than a few years old. I’m not a classics lover. Sorry!

11. Newest book you’ve read?

This one is out in October! It was adorable ❤

12. Favorite Author?

Alice Hoffman, Leigh Bardugo, Lyndsay Faye, Tana French & Julie James

13. Buying books or borrowing books?

I borrow WAY more books than I buy. WAY MORE.

14. A book you dislike that everyone seems to love?

24763621

15. Bookmarks or dog ears?

This question comes up a lot and WHY IS IT EVEN A QUESTION?! Who dog ears their books? Heathens? (In case that wasn’t clear, I use bookmarks. If I don’t have a bookmark than I’d still rather try to remember and search for my spot later then fold a page)

16. A book you can always re-read?

I read this book when I’m having a bad day. It always cheers me up ❤

25883848

17. Can you read while listening to music?

Yes. But I can’t read as efficiently. Distracted reading is still reading though, right? 😀

18. One POV or multiple POVs? (POV = point of view)

I really do not care. I think lately more authors are writing from multiple POVs but I could take it either way as long as it is well written.

19. Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

I do not have the luxury to be able to sit for longer than about an hour (baby’s nap) so it definitely takes me days to read a book. Oh the sacrifices we make when having children. LOL ❤

20. A book you’ve read because of the cover?

My first Bardugo ❤ I picked it up because of the cover (and the red pages!). I had not read her other trilogy yet. Needless to say, it was a good day 😀

I tag anyone reading this who has not done it yet ❤ Happy Reading!!

  1. Great answers! I don’t like to read series’ where there are still books not released yet because I’m not patient enough and I’ll forget what the series is about by the time the next books comes out! I don’t hate love triangles either, I think they can be done well. Also, I need to read The Little Prince, I hope I can read it in French class!

  2. I’m with you on cliffhangers at the end of books. I’ll bring my rating down so fast if I see one. It honestly doesn’t even incentive me to read the next book because they’re usually horrible. I feel like the author had a good idea for the first one and someone tells them to keep the story going.

I’m also kind of with you on love triangles. They’re fun to read if the characters and they way they’re thrown together feels authentic, not if the author is just trying to start relationship drama.
